Me Entrego

A Poem by Karen Guevara
When the leaves are vibrant
and green, I crave autumn.
Fallen, drifting in schemes
of color, café y anaranjado.
When the sun is blooming
se me olvida la carisia
of a previous breeze.
I grab a canvas
and paint your picture.
Intento capturar todas las pecas
en tu espalda, like a connect-
the-dots drawing. Trace
and retrace until they’re engraved
like scripture in my personal Bible.
When I face God, on my knees,
le dare seranata agradecida de ti.
For now, I’ll clasp my hands together—
prayers for our sacrament unity,
sent out with the breeze.
