Supplication of a Furnace Heart

A Poem by Lauren Madsen

Fan the flame

of my belief

back to a blazing fire

of faith infectious—

Let me not be stirred

to inferno

by the raging tempter—

Let not ashes of unfairness

 ignite in vengeance

or smoke of malice

impair my sight

blinding compassion—

Let Your blaze

brighten kindness

 in my countenance

seared hands lifted

heart in fervent prayer

over friends and foes.
