Death

A Poem by Audrey Bailey

Death, be not proud. You've won no victory.

The body, mortal, is in your hands.

But the soul is now set free.

You did the deed, but we have won.

Pick up your scythe and flee.

The affirmation of our faith

Gives us the victory.

Audrey Bailey is the late, great aunt of Alexis Ragan, and is the first family writer who ever inspired Alexis to write. In honor of her legacy, this short yet poignant poem was written before her death and shared by her daughter just days before Resurgam was published. She is now in Heaven penning poems for the King of Kings.

Alexis Leigh

Alexis Ragan is a poet, literary editor, and instructor, convinced that art serves as a powerful window of worship that leads humanity back to God’s heart. She created Vessels of Light to house creative literature that shines for Christ.
